Drug and alcohol relapse will only happen if you let it. So, keep a list like the one below to help you know when you are beginning to see signs of relapse:
- Being around drugs or alcohol, drug or alcohol users, or places where you used or bought drugs or alcohol.
- Feeling negative, anger, guilt, fear, sadness, anxiety or loneliness
- Feelings that make you want to have a celebration
- Boredom
- Physical Pain
- Getting high on any kind of substance
- Sitting in a room around people and all you can think about is getting high
- Having a lot of money to spend
- Using a prescription that makes you high even if you were unaware of its effects
- Thinking that you no longer have to worry because you have been healed from addiction
Keep an open mind about your drug or alcohol problem. Never let yourself go down the road to having to go through the drug and alcohol relapse program. Be positive, talk to someone if you feel like things aren’t going good. Call your rehab facility and let them know how you are feeling and they can help you not to relapse back into drugs or alcohol.
